It was a beautiful Saturday morning when my ole buddy Anna and her bo, Tim, stopped by to pick up some Foxglove babies. I had a full day of finally getting some much needed work done in the garden when Anna asks me, "Hey, wanna go see Frog rock?!" Soon I was watching my well intended plans take wing and soar off into the clouds. "Sure!"
You see, I have lived @ 15 minutes from Frog rock nearly all my life and for one reason or other had never seen it. Until now. Thanks Anna!
So, here's the story behind this not so famous structure : It seems a very long time ago there lived a sorceress in those parts long before New Boston was even a town. She lived in a small cottage with her animals including a well prized cow whom she was very fond of. Well, one evening upon returning home from collecting herbs in the forest she found that her cow was missing. Upon further investigation of the premises, she discovered some abnormally large footprints with that of her cow leading off into the trees. She followed the tracks deep into the woods until shortly before dawn when she came across a large bonfire with a huge troll seated before it. There it was, oblivious to her presence, and eating her cow which it had cooked upon the fire. In her rage she turned the troll into a frog. As it was a very large troll it turned into a very large frog and before it was able to seek shelter the sun came up and the giant frog was turned to stone.
